That’s A Good Idea is going on pause for the next few weeks.
My wife and I are expecting the birth of our daughter any day now, and I’ll be spending as much time with her and our newborn as we settle into this new and exciting world of parenthood.
This will also give me some much-needed time to think of new topics and ideas for the newsletter and catch up on the stack of books on my nightstand.
Additionally, a good friend of mine and I will be starting to produce YouTube content next month.
The primary themes of this channel will center on a new idea we have named “Tradernity”; the act of incorporating traditional values and culture into modern ways of living.
We’re choosing to take an intentionally optimistic viewpoint. We’re living in fascinating times. Our technology has made instantaneous global connection the norm. There is more information available at our fingertips than ever before in human history.
Yet, in many ways, we are more psychologically fragile, neurotic, and divided than ever. We’re incentivized to fall into destructive traps and rabbit holes that allow this new technology and endless culture war controversy to swallow our lives. And it’s a terrible thing for humanity.
Our thesis is that we have to enter a new paradigm.
We have to integrate these tools in a way that affirms and encourages personal development. And one way we can do that, is to pull from history, tradition, and past wisdom to give us the spiritual, mental, and physical tools to enter the 21st century with a new flourishing of the human spirit.
I will be providing updates for this new endeavor here and encouraging any who are interested to explore these ideas with us. I may also shift some of the writing on That’s A Good Idea to reflect this new project.
But that will be in time…
My current priority will be rest, reflection, and living in the real world, away from a screen. At least for a few weeks.
I look forward to writing again and sharing new ideas and mental explorations with you.
Stay well and, as always, thank you for your support!
-Joe
May you have a great journey in your life.
